Ingredients

  • cup whole milk
  • cup italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • splash of red wine (optional)
  • ½ tsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • red pepper flakes to taste
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • sliced mozzarella cheese
  • jar of pasta sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375℉.
  • Combine the milk and breadcrumbs in a small bowl and set aside to thicken
  • Meanwhile, mix all other ingredients, except the mozzarella cheese and sauce, in a large bowl until well combined (don’t over-mix!)
  • Add the breadcrumb mixture and mix until just combined.
  • Roll into balls (I make around 14-16, depending on how big you like them) and place into a non-stick skillet.
  • Brush the tops with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil and bake at 375° for about 40-45 minutes until cooked through.
  • Once cooked, add sauce of choice to the pan and top with sliced mozzarella cheese. Bake for another 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted.
  • Serve in your hoagie roll of choice or over your favorite pasta and enjoy!
