I shuffled through the dancing crowd, snapping pictures and smiling from ear to ear. As I inched my my way to the edge of the dance floor, she pulled me aside and motioned to come closer so I could hear what she had to say. “You have the best job!”, Emma’s grandmother said to me. And you know what, she is totally right!
I don’t think I’ll ever get over what an honor it is to be invited into a couple’s lives and document such a momentous occasion for them. As a wedding photographer, you’re not only getting to know the couple, but their parents, grandparents, extended family, and their closest friends as well, and it is something that makes this one of the best jobs I could ever imagine having.
Normally I will get to meet the bride and groom almost up to a year in advance at their engagement session, but since Emma and Parker live out of state, we didn’t have that chance prior to their wedding day. But when I walked into Emma’s cottage that afternoon and was greeted by her and her family and friends as they were getting ready, there was nothing but warmth filling the room and it felt as if we had met several times leading up to that day.
This was my first time photographing a wedding in the quaint little community of Boca Grande (located on Gasparilla Island) and I hope it’s not the last! There is so much charm on the island making it the perfect backdrop for the simple elegance of Emma and Parker’s wedding day. I have so many favorite moments from the day and I hope you enjoy scrolling through them as much as I enjoy sharing them!
Emma and Parker, thank you for inviting me into your lives, even if just for a day, to capture these wonderful memories of your beautiful wedding. I wish you nothing but joy, love, and adventure as you begin your lives as husband and wife!
