I have to say, I am really enjoying being back on the blogging scene! I think it’s because my client’s are the most beautiful, sweetest people and I just have to share more of them somewhere so that the whole world can see! 😉
I first met Taylor and Danny on FaceTime after we chatted a bit about their wedding day and my photography services. They let me know they would get back to me over the weekend, but 10 minutes later they emailed me saying they couldn’t wait and wanted to book their wedding day with me. I’m not going to lie, I did a little happy dance in the kitchen because as soon as I got off the phone with them I knew that I wanted to work with them as well!
We planned on having their engagement session in two locations since they wanted some greenery as well as the beach, and these two locations are quickly becoming two of my favorites. The park is a hidden little gem and this particular beach is generally pretty empty, giving us a private experience. With just a short drive between the two, this combination has been working so so well! The one thing that is not working so well for me is the Florida weather this time of year. It’s always a guessing game as to whether or not we’ll beat the rain storms and I have to say, we came pretty close this time. Pretty. Darn. Close.
For those who have been following me on Instagram for a while, you probably know by now that I am deathly afraid of lightning. I don’t know why, I don’t know how it started, I just know it’s always been there. To be fair, I’m way better with it now than I used to be, but that only holds true if I’m inside…and safe. Well, as soon as we stepped out of the car at the beach, there was a massive lightning strike just over yonder…LIKE RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET…and then a massive crack of thunder. Needless to say I pooped my pants and wanted to yell, “EVERYBODY RUN FOR COVER!!!”. Instead, I held it somewhat together and asked Danny if he was okay with continuing and he said yes, that we were totally fine. You guys, these two are pilots and fly massive planes 30,000 feet above the ground. If they said okay, I sure as heck was going to trust them. (Have I ever mentioned that growing up I used to love planes and wanted to be a pilot so just another reason I’m totally in awe of these two!)
Anywho, to wrap this up so you can get to the beautiful pictures, we went out on the beach and I tried not to let Taylor & Danny see the fear in my eyes or the shaking in my boots. And I’m happy to say I have lived to tell the tale of the day I thought I absolutely most definitely was going to be struck by lightning on my favorite empty beach doing what I absolutely love. And the best part is, you would never know there was a storm looming just behind us…watching, waiting, listening (name that movie). There was nothing but glow.
Taylor & Danny, thank you for choosing me and for trusting me to capture this wonderful time in your lives! I know it was a hot and humid evening but you two just kept on smiling and laughing through everything and it was so much fun capturing your love on camera. I cannot wait for your June wedding, I just know it’s going to be amazing!!
